Why would a federal government which continuously refers to pro-lifers as terrorists be invited into private parochial schools by Catholic administrators? Why would The Department of Homeland Security meddle in the operations of an independent educational institution under the guise of "safety", when that very government agency continuously characterizes Catholic conservatives as dangerous extremists? These are some questions which must be answered in the wake of some startling newly-discovered information.

A Parish bulletin insert highlighting "Catholic Schools Week 2013" has revealed that Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Dubuque, Iowa are "Working with resources from Iowa Homeland Security" and "local law enforcement" under the pretext of "ensuring that students and staff are safe at school." The January 27, 2013 bulletin from St. Jude Parish in Cedar Rapids, Iowa outlines the benefits of a parochial school education and also includes a message from Bishop Jerome Hanus, OSB, Archbishop of Dubuque. ....

As CBS reported in 2012, a Priest defrocked for child sex abuse now works for TSA. So the Department of Homeland Security hires pervert ex-priests for "sensitive security" management positions. The ex-priest isn't allowed around Catholic school kids via the Catholic church anymore, but then a Catholic Archdiocese hires this very same agency to keep their kids safe. That is dangerous and utterly disgraceful.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, in addition to other state and federal government agencies, has been revealed in many declassified documents to deem Christians, conservatives, pro-lifers, those who support traditional marriage, and other limited government Constitutional types as "dangerous extremists." DHS even classifies them as potential terrorists. This information is widely documented in mainstream news, with countless examples available in seconds through an internet search.

The Catholic schools and their leadership should be ashamed that they have fallen in collusion with a corrupt agency that uses tactics which Pope Benedict XVI himself has publicly condemned. In February 2010 the Pope condemned the immodest and intrusive body-scanners, stating in part, "Every action, it is above all essential to protect and value the human person in their integrity...Respecting these principles can seem particularly complex and difficult in the present context."

Many Catholics and other prominent Christians have rightly condemned the Department of Homeland Security for targeting pro-life Christian conservatives. Among these critics are Father Frank Pavone of PriestsforLife.org, American Life League president Judie Brown, Sister Anne Flanagan, Former U.S. Rep. Bob Barr, Former Presidential candidate Pastor Chuck Baldwin, Congressman Ron Paul, and many others.

In July 2012 Infowars reported Homeland Security Report Lists "Liberty Lovers" As Terrorists, which stated in part,

"A new study funded by the Department of Homeland Security characterizes Americans who are "suspicious of centralized federal authority," and "reverent of individual liberty" as "extreme right-wing" terrorists. Entitled 'Hot Spots of Terrorism and Other Crimes in the United States, 1970-2008' (PDF), the study was produced by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism at the University of Maryland. The organization was launched with the aid of DHS funding to the tune of $12 million dollars.

...The report takes its definitions from a 2011 study entitled Profiles of Perpetrators of Terrorism, produced by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism, in which the following characteristics are used to identify terrorists.

• Americans who believe their "way of life" is under attack;
• Americans who are "suspicious of centralized federal authority";
• Americans who are "reverent of individual liberty";

The report also lists people opposed to abortion and "groups that seek to smite the purported enemies of God and other evildoers" as terrorists."

Ironically, the DHS report was released in 2012 precisely as the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Ad Hoc Committee for Religious Liberty released a bold Statement on Religious Liberty. (PDF.) The bishop's report mirrored the very characteristics which DHS demonized. The document than goes on to list "Religious Liberty Under Attack - Concrete Examples", including the "HHS mandate for contraception, sterilization, and abortion-inducing drugs", "Discrimination against Catholic humanitarian services", "Altering Church structure and governance", and many others.

Catholics should educate themselves on these matters and oppose any involvement of the Department of Homeland Security in their children's schools. Federal agencies are not necessary for schools to remain safe. If anything, they send a message of subservience, propaganda and abuse which is harmful to children's well being. In my January 17th article Homeland Security set to grope schoolkids under New York's gun ban, I point out dozens of mainstream news reports in which DHS admittedly hires dangerous child pornographers and sexual perverts, as well as how DHS continuously abuses the public they are purportedly "keeping safe." Recently retired Congressman Ron Paul pointed out that the "sinister" "unspeakably evil" National Defense Authorization Act of 2013 endangers "Christians, gun-owners, and home-schoolers".

I will close with a few excerpts from Papal Encyclicals explaining the proper "nature of the state" for Catholics to ponder. Following that are a number of relevant excerpts and news links on this issue. There have been many official Encyclicals from Popes throughout the centuries which outline that "the state" is not to be considered the answer to all the ills of society.
