Rusty Bicycle
An old man pedals his rusty bicycle
Down a narrow lane
In dingy white shirt and bamboo hat
He pedals slowly, aware:
Each creak of the wheel.

A neighbor knows the sound,
Calls out to him:
"Why don't you buy a car, Dr. Chen?"
He smiles,
Says nothing,
Pedals on.
He can afford some oil.
