young man (Ewan McGregor-Oliver) doesn't remember where father was while a
child. He is with mother at school, shopping centre, exhibition and streets. Where
is father (Christopher Plummer)?
A beginner old man (Plummer-Hal), he is 75 years old and he loses wife five years ago. He fells like a gay since 13 years old. He was married, he has a son (Oliver) and Hal says him he was a gay while 75. He decided to live homosexual relations at 75.
Oliver can't leave dog (Arthur) alone for escaping to parties, work and others. It cries and Oliver can't rely on it and he turns back, he takes it. He is beginner for dog. Melanie Laurent-Anna has flirt experiments (4-5 men) and Oliver has too (4-5 women). But Anna can't decide about relation with Oliver because he loves her like a fanatic. He needs care, compassion every moment like he was child and like his mother exhibited for him.
Goran Visnjic-Andy, father Hal's boyfriend, he is young, loves old men because his father denied him when Andy said himself was a gay. He explains with this why he likes old men. The trouble Andy lived with himself father and the trouble Oliver lived with himself father (Hal wasn't in childhood memories of Oliver) show how homosexual or other natural instincts directed by our family past and experiments.
If Andy wouldn't be denied by father he might like Oliver and if Oliver had much more father memories from childhood and he wouldn't be so sensual about mother he wouldn't be so fanatic of Anna. Oliver wears costume of S. Freud at party he gets he can't hold himself sadness when Anna lies to long seat and asking something. "Why are you so sad?' Anna asks "Oh, I can't cover my sadness' Oliver says.
Freud costume is symbolized psychoanalysis and movie offers to watch with angle of Freud.
Oliver sensual about everything father, mother, Arthur, Anna, American history, freedom and future. If Oliver had crash with father in childhood he would be gay, too. He is in peace with father and mother, he has love and power and he doesn't have any wonder about power of father.
But that Oliver hasn't any father memory in childhood to wonder how he provided peace with father, how did he receive Hal's power? This is not clear.
Oliver loses mother and gets his father is a gay five years later of mother dies. He is young, about 30 and he looks for hard relations, marriage or living in same home with Anna. Oliver approaches to patient father lovely like ever time he approaches everyone even Andy.
and Oliver are beginners. Hal decided to live homosexuality, Oliver loses
mother and gets special situation of father and he needs really hard permanent
relations, both are beginners. Hal advertizes for finding partner, Oliver goes
to Anna's home in LA from
"The Beginners' has 3 parts, now and 2 pass term: Childhood of Oliver, his relation with father after 75, and now with Anna. Parts are involved and it is not liner. This is an independent movie. I remember "The Kids All Right' (Out of Hollywood) and I think "The Beginners' has some messages what support regular sexual, too. "The Kids"' and The Beginners are right if someones are homosexual they mustn't have child.
But I don't know why many independent homosexuality movies approach to marriage. I think this is the secret of making independent movie (Homosexuality is a natural situation) but making happy supporters (But homosexuality is not good if they get marriage and if they have children).
"But homosexuality is not good if they get marriage" Yes, I agree. But Xavier Dolan and some other LGBTT movies (The Milk) was more sincerity without any political message.
Plummer had the Oscar with this role and he said why that award was so late. He had Oscar with late-gay role, in The Beginners. Nice.
