The Security and Sustainability Forum's upcoming webinar entitled "Maintaining Economic Vitality in a Changing Climate" will explore successful local and national approaches in maintaining business continuity and jobs while responding to extreme weather events, energy impacts and threats from other disruptions to national systems. The webinar will also address how municipal sustainability investments can increase business value and tax revenue, create jobs, and protect human health and welfare.

Additionally, the webinar will address successful infrastructure and capacity building investments that are meeting the dual goals of sustainability and economic vitality.

"Maintaining Economic Vitality in a Changing Climate" will be co-produced by ICLEI -- Local Governments for Sustainability USA , the leading membership association of cities and counties committed to climate action, clean energy, and sustainability. Panel members include city officials from Chicago and Copenhagen as well as global investment and urban economic development leaders. Lykke Leonardsen, head of the Department for Strategic Planning in Parks and Nature in Copenhagen's Technical and Environmental Administration, will be on hand to discuss how the city's first climate change adaptation plan will improve the city for its residents and how the initiatives will be financed.

Karen Weigert, Chief Sustainability Officer for the City of Chicago, will discuss Chicago's sustainability strategy, which is focused on mitigating climate change through energy efficiency and incorporating job creation to simultaneously bolster the local economy.

Other panel members include Jeb Brugmann, author of "Welcome to the Urban Revolution: How Cities Are Changing the World" and a new ICLEI white paper entitled "Financing the Resilient City: A Demand-driven Approach to Development, Disaster Reduction and Climate Adaptation" and Mindy Lubber, president of Ceres, an organization that leads a national coalition of investors, environmental organizations and other public interest groups working with companies to address sustainability challenges such as water scarcity and global climate change.

The webinar is scheduled for March 22, 2012 1:15 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. EST. As always, the Security and Sustainability Forum's webinars are free and open to the public. To register for this webinar, visit https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/213160720 .
