I write political OP/ED pieces
Cause politicians are a devious species.
Once our leaders assume the mantel of power,
Their decisions are the gospel of the hour.
They act in secret to protect national security.
I've come to suspect their purity.
Power is an unquenchable thirst,
You wonder whose interests go first.
Democrats or Republicans it makes no matter,
The more power they gain their friends get fatter.
Pork is the ambrosia of our political leaders,
If unchecked they become voracious feeders.
Government tolerates our right to pry.
But secretly they assume most people won't try.
The media are suspect and accused of left wing bias
If the public buys the spin they will walk and not try us.
Richard Nixon, Oliver North and G. Gordon Liddy
Hundreds more-what a pity.
When leaders abuse their power and lie,
The damage they do is vast and will not die.
So OP/ED writers must commit to remind us,
That even a President will occasionally cuss.
The news must be vigilant and cover the story,
Or our rights will be consumed by Presidential glory.

I am firmly convinced that war doesn't determine who's right, but rather, who's is left."
