IDF reservist sentenced to military prison for refusing draft

IDF reservist Gilad Halpern was arrested on Wednesday at Ben Gurion Airport, Tel Aviv, for fleeing Israel to avoid taking part in Operation Protective Edge, which has led to the deaths of almost 2,000 Palestinians and 67 Israelis. He was subsequently sentenced to 21 days in Israel's Military Prison 4, despite his reasons for refusing the call to arms being ideological in nature.
