| This article and related report attributes the decline in economic opportunity to the bruising 2008 recession and the alarming economic trends that preceded it, but they don't identify the root cause that set those alarming economic trends in motion nor do they provide any measurement of political opportunity.
The root cause omitted is the August 1971 Powell Memo, that was spearheaded by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and embraced by America's multinational corporations to hijack political power over our Democracy and as a result economic opportunity in America. The failure to address political opportunity and identify the Powell Memo's destructive effect on economic opportunity is not surprising, given the corporate sponsorship necessary to produce this report. This are examples of corporate monies used to laundry the ideas they want embraced, rather than exposing the truth. |
