On Nov. 25, the Washington Post published an article reminiscent of the worst kind of McCarthyist redbaiting from the 1950s, claiming, based upon the "research" of a totally anonymous website called PropOrNot.com, that some 200 US news sites were part of a huge Russian propaganda conspiracy to throw the US election to Trump, discourage American support for US democracy and stoke fears of a nuclear war with Russia.
The article defamed as "Russian propaganda peddlers" some of the nation's most important independent news sites, and despite the site itself admitting under pressure that it had made "mistakes" in listing some sites, the Post has not backed off of its verion of a Red Channels hit list.
