"The Republican Machine: The Little Engine That Couldn't!"
by Charles L. Riccillo
When all is said and done, the Republican machine has simply broken down, and can't take it!
When it came to climbing up the sharp grade of the American dream's mountain pass, their engine merely couldn't get up enough steam.
Not surprising, really. They've forsaken the dictum of both Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln. They cannot claim any longer to be the engineers of the train of government, one "of, for and by the people," dedicated to liberty and justice for all, and "with malice toward none."
The Republican machine has become little less than a stealth bomber.
Lies always preceded actions, as in Iraq. Colin Powell came to discover them, and now has endorsed Barack Obama. I doubt but that he too was told the Iraq war was "a slam dunk." I happen to believe he had his doubts even then, but with his personal integrity and military character, he trusted the Liar in Chief in vain.
The current George simply jumped into the water eagerly where his father had before him.
Before the Panama war, father George Bush claimed to have never have even met Manuel Noriega. The next day, newspapers showed him in conference with the dictator comfortably on a sofa!
And since Daddy Dear Senior had gone into Iraq, Georgie the Younger would do nothing less!
He truck our troops into harms way, and then announced, prematurely, "mission accomplished!"
"Mission accomplished? Puh-lease, Georgie, at last give us a break! You have set the very fabric of this nation to unraveling with an endless war, an economy in tatters, and Americans tapping their feet at the gas pump.
No doubt he concurs with McCain, as John with him: "Drill, baby drill!"
Hell, why not?!
