The major reason for Rush Limbaugh's dominance on the right, post-2008, nowhere stated in the biography, is simple arithmetic: it is the shrinking of the GOP. In state after state where more Democrats go to the polls than Republicans (or "Independents'), within a shrunken domain, the residual loud voices carry. This arithmetic--the declining appeal of the pro-oil-spill party--elucidates the prominence of Limbaugh, Palin, and most of the Tea Partiers.
