If Christian government-- by the lights of a whole steaming pantload of well-heeled Republicans, a laudable end-- can be brought about through the judicious use of dirty tricks, then those tricks should be used. Pure pragmatism.
Oh, you say, but isn't what you're tring to bring about is a MORAL government and society. How can you justify lying to people, burglarizing voting boxes, perpetrating a complex of betrayals of the democratic process and therefore of the American people to bring that about?
You say the glorious end justifies a certain manipulation-- tweaking-- of a system a Republican like Thomas Jefferson would have basically have frowned on for allowing too much suffrage by undeucated lower-class people ill-equipped to vote?
