The question remains. How does one get elected with such a platform? When the public cringes at the very suggestion the road to economic recovery will be hard, what will prevent them from going over to Rush Limbaugh?
Barack Obama deftly sidetracked the Republican smear tactics with a barrage of positive programs and enactments. If the public believes they will work, many of them will.
When the Weathermen were all the rage, they had a litmus test for those who wished to join the radical group. The test consisted of 25 questions more or less that probed ideological commitment. If the applicant answered even one question inappropriately, the group denied him membership.
In the late 1960's this ridiculous stance and many others terminated the left as a political actor. The right wing assumed a power that has continued for forty years.
In the interim the left [like Palestinians] never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
By nitpicking about Obama's seeming to stray ideologically, the current lefties repeat the errors of the Weathermen.
Until somebody can employ returning veterans, he should get off their case.
