Also, any state political party that has garnered at least one percent of the registered voters in that state should have a right to participate in all state officer-election debates.
Moreover, there should be public financing of all national and state elections. Paid political advertisements on television, radio, and in newspapers and magazines should not be allowed. Wealthy individuals and powerful corporations do not always have the best policy proposals for our nation, but they have an inordinately unfair influence because of their wealth and power. It is only fair and just to level the playing field for the good of all. Furthermore, the Electoral College system for electing a President should be abolished, so that the candidate who gets the most votes wins.
Sincerely,
Jill or John Doe
Thousands of protesters in every major city can shout, "Pass the Bill that Maximizes Democracy! Pass the Bill that Maximizes Democracy! Pass the Bill that Maximizes Democracy!" Considering the current mindset of Republican and Democratic legislators, does this bill sound grandiose? Yes. But as millions of Americans hear about the bill, read it, and understand it, they will ignore any criticisms of it from the mainstream media, and they too will demand that the bill be passed.
