True, not much had yet been accomplished, nor has it yet been, that has truly shifted the energy sources of this country toward democracy, but I felt that the power source had been changed: instead of coming from the headlines, the radio, the boob tube, the energy source for these things had come from me, and others like me: in the direction of Democracy.
That's how we make a U-turn here, or anywhere: you take the wheel and turn. And that's how we originally got our charter 232 years ago.
It's hard to maintain all the right focus and energy when there is so much to be done, but if people would worry less about the shiftlessness and fecklessness of Congress, and more about what we can do, and empower ourselves to do it, the politicians will be dragged kicking and screaming in the direction of true representation.
Although voting would be nice, a listening Congress wuld be nice, and law would be nice, he key now is to expose all lies, and to accept no substitutes for what is really protective of the peope's interests. And, as Winston Churchill said, "Never, never, nerver, never...." surrender.
We have a vote, actually, much greater than the ones that go, or don't go, into "official" tallies: our voices and pens, online, on the phone lines, and in the strike lines. It's just, like "voting" itself, so little exercised, and when it is, by so few, that the whole "will of the people" has atrophied to a state of near disuse.
A wise man I know has said, to congregations: "On the Road to Faith, Fear is the Wrong Exit." And then, thunderously, he asks, "AND WHAT IS THE RIGHT ONE ??"
And let the people all say, as one, "Courage."
