Just four of these behemoths Tyson Fresh Meats, Cargill Meat Solutions, JBS Swift & Co., and National Beef Packing Co. control nearly 90 percent of all the fed cattle in the U.S., and individual cattle farmers and ranchers are finding it impossible to recover even their cost of production. We are becoming more and more dependent on imported products to maintain an adequate food supply in the United States, and that is wrong. The large corporations are not going to reverse this pattern, and it seems neither will Congress.

The proverbial pendulum has swung way too far. No longer can we be complacent or apathetic. We must begin to fight to preserve and defend the rights that we have. It is up to us, the people, to force Congress to change the course of this great nation. Until we organize and stand together, we will continue to be relegated to only complaining about our problems, rather than proposing and implementing solutions. The first step every American needs to take is to find the organization that is fighting to preserve the independence of American citizens and then support that organization. There is no better place to start than with our food, which is the focus of R-CALF USA.
