It would have been anything but silent, rather front and center in the mix, inflaming the situation tenfold, if oil was at $147 per barrel, rather than where it was at the time, $40. In fact, Hugo Chavez made more of a scene, with the tempest in a teapot token ejection of the Israeli ambassador.
Considering the need for significant international cooperation, this effort will require integrating the State Department. This becomes an immediate task for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, weaving this initiative into a new foreign policy platform built on "Smart Power (i.e. Pragmatic Diplomacy), effectively a fundamental shift from the foreign policy of the prior eight years; unilateralism to multi-lateral diplomacy.
Here then is the opportunity with an innovative, integrated and strategic Obama energy and foreign policy, embraced by allies, to turn a refreshing but temporary Troublesome Three media hiatus, into a permanent one...and delightfully fill that media void with reruns of everyone's real tripartite clown favorites - the Three Stooges.
So onward the news channel revolution and our glorious struggle to rid the airwaves of these three megalomaniacs and replace with three characters whose antics we do relish and enjoy.
To this liberating end, we collectively cry "Viva Moe, Larry and Curly".
