There is a danger to ignoring our past, and the responsibility to remind ourselves of the horror we have overcome in our shared history lies with those that present the public with the news of the day. Some take on that responsibility in a professional capacity, and many use their personal time to share news stories, create conversation, and give personal insight on social media. This is how we create the common social narrative that informs all our lives in the technological age. It is the responsibility of these social commentators to inform themselves, and others, of the red flags of history that have led to massive human rights atrocities, cessation of freedoms, and genocide. These circumstances could, and will, happen again if we are not vigilant and critical of the events unfolding around us. We must be made aware of our potential to know what is possible. Our future is all our responsibility.
"We --even we here --hold the power, and bear the responsibility."
- Abraham Lincoln
