Activists in and around Berkeley are going to hold a 24-hour vigil from 7 pm Monday to 7 pm Tuesday and then go to the city council meeting. They are asking people near Berkeley to mobilize and show up to the meeting and tell the council how this illegal war really makes them feel.
This day of action on February 15th will be more than just a chance for people to act out and oppose the war. It will be something that is not constricted by the elections. And for many who remember the responses given in the January 15, 2008 debate by Clinton and Obama on MSNBC as well as on the campaign trail in regards to military recruitment, they do not see this election as the solution and instead call upon the people of America to rise up and take action now.
Indeed, the Democrats have had over a year now to end this war and instead of ending it, they gave Americans a surge. Not one has bothered to filibuster funding of this illegal war. Therefore, to any American that wishes to end this war now, the duty belongs to you and all your fellow American friends and family.
Do not wait for your congressman to heed your call to end this war. He or she is too busy being loyal to his or her party to care about how this illegal war makes your conscience feel.
If you can’t be in these big cities on February 15th for actions, please write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. Thank you.
