My fellow young Americans (and old because it's never too late to defend democracy or our Constitution)---We’ve gotta rebuild democracy. We’ve gotta run for office and be on the school boards, parks & recreation departments, city councils, and move on upwards from there. We’ve gotta make our presence felt at town hall meetings nationwide.
Students (and other organizations) pull out the earphones, turn off the Xbox, and remove your selves from the world of cyberspace video gaming and Internet messaging before we cannot organize against those who are trespassing on our freedoms.
“Update your profile on Facebook some more before we wake up and take back this country.” Or how about not? How about…
..We organize tens of thousands of people in support of the issue of taking back our country or repudiating this Bush Regime. Call up the candidates running for president (Democrat, Republican, Independent, Libertarian, Green, etc.). Inform that you represent a massive amount of voters who will be needed if they wish to win the election and who will continue to organize in defense of democracy even after the election is over. Let them know you want them to come to a public auditorium and answer questions. Let them know these may be questions they’ve never heard before but they’ve got to answer them. Our democracy’s future rests on those answers.
In the meantime, while you are waiting for the candidates to stop by your community and hear your concerns, parade down the street with signs and musical instruments showing how fun it can be to take back our democracy as often as you can.
It has to start somewhere. It has to start sometime. What better place than here. What better time than now.
The future is unwritten. Which one we get is up to us.
