Maureen and Michael Hearn included their phone number when they contacted me. I called and spoke with Michael. He and his wife are tireless in their efforts for peace and can't understand why all Americans haven't awakened to the lies that took us to war, the deaths of more than 2,400 US troops in Iraq, the maimed and brain damaged and the violence that continues to kill so many Iraqis. When I told Michael I sometimes feel hopeless, he encouraged me to continue writing. "Speak truth to power," he advised.
It was difficult to tell Michael this powerful truth: George Tenet will never take that 'courageous stand' to bring our soldiers home. The Medal of Freedom is the Medal of Silence""silence bought by George Bush, the neoconservative who has awarded the medal so liberally.
