For many years, Alireza Jafarzadeh operated in the National Press Building, in Washington, D.C., a press office for the MEK under the name of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI). Former Secretary of State Colin Powell insisted that the American government close this terrorist office. Former Attorney General John Ashcroft (a supporter of the MEK) was the Attorney General when the American government raided the home of Alireza Jafarzadeh and removed boxes of his documents. Has even one American television network, newspaper, or magazine ever demanded under the Freedom of Information Act copies of these documents?
After losing his position with the NCRI, Alireza Jafarzadeh became a foreign affairs analyst for the Fox News Channel. At his Strategic Policy Consulting Web site, Jafarzadeh’s biography includes:
“Alireza Jafarzadeh is the president of Strategic Policy Consulting, Inc. He is also a FOX News Channel Foreign Affairs Analyst.
Alireza Jafarzadeh is the author of “The Iran Threat: President Ahmadinejad and the Coming Nuclear Crisis” (Palgrave Macmillan, January 2007).”
The Voice of America permitted Alireza Jafarzadeh to disseminate disinformation to Persian speakers around the world: (1) The MEK’s fewer than 4,000 terrorists at Camp Ashraf, Iraq are helping America to prevent Iran from taking over Iraq. (2) The Iraqi government cannot expel the MEK terrorists from Camp Ashraf, Iraq because the Fourth Geneva Convention (protecting civilians) protects the MEK terrorists. The Voice of America showed undated scenes of MEK terrorists with weapons able to stop automobiles on a road in Iraq. When American and coalition forces attacked Camp Ashraf in April 2003 (killing some of the MEK terrorists), the American military claimed that it had disarmed the terrorists.
Voice of America: Official Liar for America
American political leaders have proposed giving millions of dollars of taxpayers’ money to Iranian-American television and radio stations so that these stations could broadcast lies and propaganda in Persian. The Voice of America has proven that there is no need to give millions of dollars to Iranian-American television and radio stations to promote unofficial lies and propaganda. The Voice of America is willing to broadcast official lies and propaganda.
Americans need to demand that their members of Congress stop supporting the MEK and the use of the Voice of America to promote official lies and propaganda.
