Salee has the spirit and the will and the courage to bring peace. When she is eighteen years old she will be a force to be reckoned with. George W. Bush is no match for Salee Alawe. Or her family. Or for Cole Miller or Ann Cothran or Lisa Hall.

As Cole says, "We do not need for George Bush to decide to end this war. We can do it. We are the real power. When we reach out to Iraqi's and make it possible for them to know us and for us to know them. When we work tirelessly to heal the wounds caused by the warmongers, we will create a bond for peace, people to people.

It is evening the next day and Salee sits on a coffee table and learns to play a video game with a volunteer. Her father calls and she propels herself off the table and into her wheel chair to go out with her American friends. She talks of her teeth and her last visit to the dentist. She laughs and hugs and speaks some more English words. She prepares to take the future by the scruff of the neck.

Today George W. Bush stumbled through a press conference, refusing to answer difficult questions and taking a planned softball lob from a planted member of the press. Then he slunk from the podium without taking a follow-up question.
