The greater point, of course, is that making the oil companies pay their fair share is not what's important; the important point is that we cannot allow them to set our national energy policies. Their corporate objectives are treasonously different than our societal objectives. They want to sell us their oil; we need to stop them so that we can survive. The choices are that stark.
When survival hangs in the balance, all energy policy recommendations must be challenged with a single, laser-focused question: "Will that solve the global warming problem?" Our political system has not asked this question. To do so, in the current climate, would risk being labeled an extremist. To fail do so, risks far more than that.Next Page 1 | 2
