This article examines three myths about guns:

1) "Guns don't kill people. People do"

2)  "You can't stop a criminal from getting a gun so you  shouldn't make it harder for non criminals from getting them.  "

3) "People should be free to own high capacity assault weapons."

Myth #1 "Guns don't kill people.  People do"

Actually not so much.

Actually people without guns rarely kill people although occasionally.

It's "People AND guns kill people" .

The majority of murders involve guns.

When a person and a gun are together the probability of fatality increases by leaps and bounds.

See these Articles:

The American Journal of Public Health conducted a study that concluded "the United States has higher rates of firearm ownership than do other developed nations, and higher rates of homicide. Of the 233,251 people who were homicide victims in the United States between 1988 and 1997, 68% were killed with guns, of which the large majority were handguns."[60] .

The more people with easy access to guns the more violence and deaths.

Conclusions. Although our study cannot determine causation, we found that in areas where household firearm ownership rates were higher, a disproportionately large number of people died from homicide.
