"The bipartisan fiscal commission I created last year made this crystal clear. I don't agree with all their proposals, but they made important progress." Barack Obama

Cut and destroy Social Security, a Republican's wet dream for generations and a fine monument to the ghost of Ronald Reagan.

"I'm willing to look at other ideas to bring down costs, including one that Republicans suggested last year -- medical malpractice reform to rein in frivolous lawsuits." Barack Obama

Also from the 2008 Republican National Platform.

"We've also taken the fight to al Qaeda and their allies abroad. In Afghanistan, our troops have taken Taliban strongholds and trained Afghan security forces. Our purpose is clear: By preventing the Taliban from reestablishing a stranglehold over the Afghan people, we will deny al Qaeda the safe haven that served as a launching pad for 9/11." Barack Obama

You just can't have a State of the Union speech anymore without a reference to al Qaeda and 9-11! We wouldn't have needed to cut and cut again if it wasn't for the money squandered on two, count em, two illegitimate wars.

Then a fawning display over the military and the madness. For if the military is just and true, then the cause must be just and true as well. What Obama calls "our civilians" in Iraq are in fact, mercenaries and contractors. The Iraqi government is so weak that it took them months just to decide on a Prime Minister and so the President again declares bad as good, insert cod piece and hoist mission accomplished banner.

I shook my head through out, pusillanimous platitudes and banal generalities. Promises of pie in the sky while totally ignoring stark truths. The U-6 unemployment figure in the United States is 16.7 percent last month down from a high of 17.1, high speed internet and high speed rail isn't going to fix that fact. Calling the same tired free trade deals, global trade deals won't fix it either.

Advocating Republican policies while citing America's rural electrification is not only absurd but insulting. Rural America was electrified by direct government intervention of a Democratic administration, it was a project seen as, not cost being effective by big business. A truly Democratic administration saw the project as just and needed by the people. It was an administration that saw need first and profit second, and if necessary no profit at all. After big government had built that rural electric infrastructure then big business wanted to buy it.

That administration was headed by a Democrat who told Americans, "the key to the front door of the White House is here in my pocket, and it will stay in my pocket."

Mr. Obama has made it clear by word and deed that corporate America now owns the White House lock, stock and barrel and he is but their lackey. He is the heir to Ronald Reagan's legacy, A poor tenant carrying water for the big boss man. It was a shameful display last night, it was all I could do to keep from turning it off. The abandonment of millions, the Captain of the Titanic praising the shuffleboard tournaments. All Hail the One Party System! All Hail the Ghost of Ronald Reagan!

"We had to struggle with the old enemies of peace--business and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking, class antagonism, sectionalism, war profiteering.

They had begun to consider the Government of the United States as a mere appendage to their own affairs. We know now that Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob." Franklin Delano Roosevelt

I who am I? Born at the pinnacle of American prosperity to parents raised during the last great depression. I was the youngest child of the youngest children born almost between the generations and that in fact clouds and obscures who it is that (more...)
