Just as our campaign sidestepped BIG MONEY, it can sidestep Party machinery, rules, etc, designed to thwart.
A WRITE IN is the logical extension of a political revolution against the dishonest and corrupt political machine, since anyone can run, and in 43 states, anyone can write in.
Can we get 40 million people to write in? I have no patience to go through all possible state votes to determine exactly which states would need to be won, but any talented politicians has a staff to deal with that. Breckinridge got 18% in a 4 way and cleaned up on states and EVs.
Bernie has shown he can do it: he got crowds of 25,000, raised more money than Clinton from you and me, and all the polls showed that he could beat Clinton handily and Trump badly.
The American people want Bernie Sanders; the polls say so, the approval and trustworthy surveys say so, and the views of most Americans is progressive: for immigration reform, gun law reform, single payer healthcare, free tuition, higher taxes for billionaires, raise the minimum wage, etc etc.....
And, a Pew poll found that in the 18-29 group, more prefer socialism to capitalism and that the most approved political term is "progressive."
The system is designed (built into the Constitution) to block the will of the people, and a duopoly meets that need: you can pay off both parties and they will serve you, whoever wins. The grey swan is an uprising of a 3d party.....this would totally blow the old system away. The progressive goal is to take power and transform America, according to the wishes of the American People.
There it is: the legal, the history, the genuine revolutionary power of a massive write in.......we have 6 weeks.
I am urging a groundswell from the bottom to energize and encourage Sanders to jump in as the Independent he now is (he left the Democratic Party last week) with a revolutionary new way of giving the finger to the two-party system ....and with 40 million people writing in his name in 43 states, we can, even if we don't win, totally shake up the establishment and let them know that their end time is coming and the times they are a changin......
We can either be part of the change..............or ?????
I welcome criticism based on evidence and logic, and especially suggestions as to what we tens of millions of adrift Bernie supporters can do in the next month to prevent great evil from assuming power.
If Breckinridge, in 1860 (who did not have polls showing him winning) could get 18%, Bernie can get 35-40%, which is enough to win in a 4 way, DEPENDING of course on the states won or lost.
The Electoral College is a monstrosity invented to block mob rule (the view of democracy by the slave owners who wrote the constitution (all but 3 owned slaves) and it's time we used it to bring a government of, for, and by the people into existence. IF we do not act, we are losing a precious opportunity for Progressivism has never been more popular or supported: 67% in the Pew poll approved. Lost opportunities may not come again: what can we do? How can we push Bernie to run as a write in if the other possibilities (coalition) fall thru or if the gap between Trump and Clinton stays where it is (unlikely).
It's up to us, as Bernie always said: what can we do (please, I have heard "nothing" already.....no, we can't!...enough. What we need are creative, out of the box proposals for a massive campaign to draft Sanders as a WRITE IN....and we have a little over 6 weeks.
It's time to use an institution designed to block democracy in order to create it. This sweet revenge will end the contradiction between our proclaimed values (democracy, equality, consent of the governed) and our existing system of duopoly/oligarchy as two sides of the same coin, which very much fits Mussolini's definition of fascism.
