JB: There are hard feelings regarding the way Bernie has been treated by the press and the Clinton campaign. The recent behavior of the platform committee contributes further to the image that Clinton takes Bernie and his supporters pretty much for granted. Do you think that's an unfair assessment?
RH: The mainstream media, the Democratic Party establishment, and the Clinton campaign have done everything they could to sink Bernie's campaign. And Hillary will now expect Bernie's supporters to hold their noses and vote for her anyway. But why should we be surprised? Bernie and what he stands for is their worst nightmare. And they will do everything they can to limit his campaign's influence on the convention, the party platform, and the institutional structures of the party going forward. But to refuse to vote for Hillary in the general election when Trump is the opponent is, to use a favorite phrase of my long departed mother, "to cut off one's nose to spite one's face."
JB: You may have hit the nail on the head, but, to heap cliche upon cliche, it is a bitter pill to swallow. Thanks so much for talking with me, Robin. I learned a lot this go around. I hope you'll consider doing this again.
RH: Thanks. It's been a pleasure. Any time.
