Yes I'll admit it; tears rolled down as I read Kevin Zeese's blog last night on the October2011.org website where he related this development; retired military (all branches) and retired police have begun their own occupy groups i.e. occupy marines, navy, army, air force and police in solidarity with the occupy movements all across the country.
It seems the terrible head injury suffered by Scott Olsen, the ex-marine who served two tours in Iraq, when he was hit with a tear gas canister thrown by Oakland Police a week ago as well as Sgt. Shamar Thomas' verbal defense of Occupy Wall Street protesters in front of 30 NYPD cops two weeks ago have had a cathartic affect on those retired military and police who realize attacking peaceful, innocent protesters (exercising their Constitutional right "to peaceably assemble and petition for a redress of grievances") is not what they were about when they vowed to serve their country or protect the public.
So they're joining in, realizing as they do, the military and the police are also part of the 99% represented by the occupy movement protests.
*On a related note, Occupy Oakland has called for a city-wide general strike today in Oakland. Go to their web site for details.
