John McCain has said a number of things over the past 10 years that would lend themselves to further scrutiny. Unfortunately, none of that scrutiny is coming from our mainstream media. Here are questions from an imaginary press conference:

REPORTER: You said in an ad approved by you that you were inspired by Ronald Reagan during your time as a POW. However, this inspiration is not mentioned in the very detailed article you wrote for U.S. News and World Report weeks after your release. It is also not mentioned in the book Faith of my fathers in 1999. Is there any evidence for this outside of just your word?

REPORTER: Senator McCain, in a press conference reported on June 16 of this year by Congressional Quarterly you were asked to confirm your past statement that if a duly elected government of Iraq asked us to leave you would have to comply. You answered Well, the fact is, they won't. They won't. So it would be -- I don't engage a lot in what-ifs that are not going to happen." Were you surprised several days later when the Prime Minister of Iraq asked us for a timetable to leave?

REPORTER: According to an ABC news transcript from 2004, you said the following: "I believe that my party needs to go back more to the principles of Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt, my two personal heroes "" particularly on environmental issues. I believe that climate change is real. I think we need to address it in a more meaningful fashion." Is that still your position, and what course of action would you now take?

REPORTER: Last year when a supporter asked you "What are you going to do about the b*tch?" you burst out laughing. Given that you are now trying to appeal to former Hillary Clinton supporters, how can you justify that response? Also, do you regret saying that Chelsea Clinton is so ugly because Janet Reno is her father?

REPORTER: Fox News reported in January of 2002 your remarks that we will go after Iraq once we've finished in Afghanistan. Are you surprised that after 6 years, we are still in Afghanistan and sustaining significant casualties there? Later that year you told David Letterman that there is evidence that Iraq may have been responsible for the 2001 anthrax attacks. Where did this evidence come from?

REPORTER: That will be all for today. I may have forfeited my front row seat on the Straight Talk Express.
