Dear John:

Even though I voted for Gore in 2000, I did give you money in 1999, as I was so suspicious of George W. Boy did that prove correct. Anyway, John, you need to do the country a great service and just stop campaigning. You have said over and over that you always "put country first"--and now is a perfect time for you to prove that by stopping your campaign. You recently suspended your campaign and rushed back to Washington; well maybe not rushed, as you did have time to do a quick interview or two, but this was to get Congress to pass the bailout bill.

We all saw how well that went and the bottom line is you brought nothing to the table and we understand did not have anything to say at all, until Obama directed a question to you. That is easy to believe because the whole country saw that you would not look at him during your debate, so I am betting you did not look at him during the meeting with the President. We will never know, but if you had NOT come to Washington they may have reached an agreement. John, lets face it, you are at odds not only with Democrats but many Republicans, and both you and Bush together did not have enough influence to get the Republican support needed. How would you ever get Congress to agree to anything if you were elected?

You have also dug a deep hole with the selection of Sarah Palin as your running mate. John, even people like Republican stalwarts George Will, and Ed Rollins are criticizing your choice, and when your strongest supporters are against you-----come on John time to put country first. If you do not believe me John, just spend a few hours watching television and you will see that I am not kidding. Republicans that formerly would have voted to bring back Nixon are now unable to say anything nice about you. I have got to ask you, "What in the world were you thinking when you chose Palin?"- Have you seen at all, the skits all over the television and online? Ok, forget online as we know that is not your thing, but they are using her exact words for these pieces. I'm serious John; she is so bad that they have not had to change her words. It would really be funny if it were not so scary.

Also, and I hate saying this, but you are just too old. John, I am too old and you have 6 years on me. If it is a nightmare electing you, then it is a horror story, your dying and Palin taking over. Yesterdays drop in the Dow of 777 points would be nothing compared to what the market would do if Palin were president. People would leave the country like rats off a sinking ship, businesses would close, and banks fail, and people would panic. John, you can't take that chance----PUT YOUR COUNTRY FIRST.

You can also save face with this next debate, for it is going to be ugly. Your best suit is talking about the surge, and things that happened years ago before Obama was born and of course Vietnam. John, you need to hear this, but we have all heard about Vietnam and your experience and we have all praised you for being a hero but that is now ancient history. I was in Vietnam in February and I can tell you, they have forgotten that war. Oh, they still have some museums but China Beach is now condos and Marble Mountain is a tourist's spot. There are many Americans now living there and Vietnam is no longer news.

John, the hardest thing I have to say to you and I really wish it were not true, but you are not intellectually capable of being President. You graduated at the bottom of your class John, but if the truth be known--and it won't--if Dad and granddad had not both been 4 stars, you would never have gotten in. You said, you did not know much about the economy, and the economy is the top issue in this campaign. There is a big Defense Department that runs our wars, so your experience in Vietnam would not be of much use. Time to put country first John, and live up to old soldiers' wisdom--they don't die, they just fade away.
