Abercrombie & Fitch And Jersey Shore: Sex And Hypocrisy

Message Robert Paul Reyes

"Teen clothing retailer Abercrombie & Fitch Co has offered money to get away from what it sees as an undesirable Situation.

The preppy retailer has offered to pay cast members from MTV's popular show 'Jersey Shore' to stop wearing its clothes, it said in a news release late Tuesday."

Abercrombie & Fitch is worried that Michael "The Situation" Sorrentino, Snooki and the rest of the "Jersey Shore" cast members will damage their reputation.

"Jersey Shore features a cast of twenty-something Italian Americans acting like imbeciles. They wile away the hours binge drinking, tanning, buying clothes, working out and having sex. Wait a moment, that sounds like fun. OK, let me channel my inner moralist: These damn youngsters exemplify the worst of America, thank goodness Abercrombie & Fitch is taking a stand against a show that glorifies promiscuous sex.

Wait a moment again! Doesn't Abercrombie & Fitch's catalog usually feature scantily clad underage models? Jersey Shore would have to depict Snooki, The Situation, and the rest of the cast members engaging in an orgy in order for them to damage the image of Abercrombie & Fitch.

I doubt if the shenanigans of The Situation and Snooki offend the moral sensitivities of the management of Abercrombie & Flitch. This is a cynical attempt by Abercrombie and Fitch to elicit free publicity.

I hope that The Situation and every other young person in America will boycott Abercrombie and Fitch!
