Abstract-and-Geometric Expressionism – Five Paintings by Nat Mayer Shapiro

My previous fine art article was titled “A Pictorial Essay - Abstract Expressionism versus Geometric Expressionism,” and it is located here.  In the article I observed that even the most purely abstract expressionist paintings may contain geometric (regular) features.  I also mentioned that purely geometric expressionist paintings became prominent after abstract expressionism’s high tide during the 1950’s and 1960’s, and they eventually evolved into Op (optical) Art.

Howsoever, prominent painters of today continue to produce “Expressionist” works combining abstract and geometrical forms, and I recently discovered a balanced incarnation of the two forms in some of the paintings of Nat Mayer Shapiro.

Take time to enjoy these wonderfully felicitous works.
