I’ve written that there is only one political party in The United States and that party is The Corporacracy. All of our lives are controlled by the whims and wishes of corporate CEOs. They send their lobbyists to Washington to ensure that, whatever corporation they run, whatever part of commerce they are involved with, politicians will make certain that the law will always protect them.
The success of their companies is not what is on their collective minds. We know this because they’re all too willing to sell those companies to personally enrich themselves. They do not put profits back into their companies. They don’t even use government bailouts to help their companies. Their entire collective goal is self enrichment.
I still believe that there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between Democrats and Republicans. We may be seeing wonderful theatrics these days. Republicans are acting up like spoiled children, not willing to play fairly. Democrats are looking like heroes, talking about passing legislation to help the so called “middle class”. These same Democrats, however, allow a significant minority of Republicans to continue to call the shots on legislation. It’s obvious that neither party is working for the people they’re supposed to represent. Democrats are still handing billions of dollars to the wealthy.
I hoped that Barack Obama would rise up and prove to me, to the American people, that we have three branches of government and not one. Unfortunately, with his insistence on so called bipartisanship obscuring most of what he’s accomplished in his short time as president and promising to contaminate and/or dilute any future “populous” legislation, Obama is beginning to look like a front man for The Corporacracy.
Right now, the most obvious indication that he’s no different is what he's saying and promising to do regarding war and peace. People who thought that Obama was going to be a “peace president” didn’t listen to him very well during his campaign or, like me, hoped that he was attempting to look tough on terrorism in order to get the votes of hawkish voters. As we move closer to sending more troops into Afghanistan, yet another third world country, for an unknown cause, he is beginning to look more and more like another presidential soldier of “peace”.
I know that The President listens to what is referred to as “progressive” radio and visits “progressive” web sites. Consequently, I’m hoping that he visits OEN and stumbles upon this song, which I’ve dedicated to presidents before him and which I now feel I can safely dedicate to him.
The song can be heard by clicking on its title.
Soldiers of PeaceSoldiers of peace sending troops to do their fighting.
They run the wars in their white shirts and ties.
They say, “It’s for your country, it’s a wrong you’re righting.”
They are so used to telling those kinds of lies.
Upon the waters they send their war ships sailing.
They say, “The people who want peace don’t understand.”
They say they’re trying to help the countries that are ailing.
When what they’re after are the riches of those lands.
Their smiles are hollow, while they work the crowds by waving.
They speak from rooms that once stood for honesty.
In the tree of history a sad tale they’re engraving.
They speak of values while they mock morality.
Soldiers of peace sending kids to hide their lying.
Soldiers of peace sending kids to shield their ruse.
They never hear the sounds of soldiers’ mothers crying.
No matter how it ends, the people always lose.
