The experts are pounding on the panic button.

Childhood obesity is spiraling out of control. In fact, in the last 20 years alone the rate of obese children has tripled... and shows no signs of letting up. Its consequences go way beyond cosmetic concerns. The way our children look is just the tip of the iceberg.  The real problems are what obesity is doing to their health.

Obese children are at greater risk of developing diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma and countless other horrifying afflictions. And the fact that one out of every three children in America are officially classified as obese paves the path for this chilling prediction:

Some Experts Believe This May Be The First Generation Of American Children...
To Have Shorter Life Spans Than Their Parents!

What does this say about the future of our country? We're supposed to be this great world power, the shining example for the rest of the globe, yet with all of our technology and medical breakthroughs, our standard of health is actually moving backwards.

And it's all because of our diet.

With so much sugar and processed garbage making up the bulk of our daily intake, it's no wonder we're falling apart. Between sodas, and sports drinks, and these fruit juices that are more like liquid candy than they are real fruit, our kids are taking in toxic amounts of sugar each day.  I mean, we're not talking about the occasional treat here; we're talking about their daily routine.

It's completely unacceptable. As parents, it is our responsibility to put an end to this irresponsible eating that is literally killing our children. We need to throw away the junk, make it a priority to eat healthy, and be that example our children desperately need. It doesn't matter how busy we are, it's no excuse. These are our children's lives on the line, and there are certainly ways to make time.

But even if we did everything right at home... Even if we turned our household into an impenetrable fortress where no junk food can find its way in...

We'd Only Be Solving Half The Problem!

Because our children still need to go to school, and the food they're being served there should be considered criminal!

We send them to school to better themselves. We want them to get an education so they can live successful, productive lives. But expecting them to be able to function on the garbage they're being fed is unfair to them. Their brains need nutrients. And you'd be hard-pressed to find them within the slop that most schools are serving up.

Many schools across the country serve lunches that don't live up to the federal government's already loose guidelines for nutrition. Even the schools who claim to serve fresh fruits often have it conveniently disappear before ever reaching the children. And the food that does make it through to the cafeteria often comes from tens of thousands of miles away, with no guarantee of its freshness. The children should be our priority, our focal point, yet we're treating them like garbage disposals, selling schools the food that nobody else wants to buy.

If we're ever going to put an end to the childhood obesity problem, this has to stop. We have to put our feet down and demand change. If we make a conscious effort, improvements can certainly be made.

It's already been proven by a group of fed-up students who decided to take matters into their own hands. They call themselves the Rethinkers .  They're based out of New Orleans, Louisiana, and were recently featured on the HBO Series The Weight Of The Nation.

These students weren't satisfied with the foods they were being served, so they decided to step up and hold the schools accountable. They graded them on the lunches served and made their cause heard, gathering tons of support both locally and nationally. And in the end, they were victorious: signing an agreement with a food provider to serve fresh, locally grown produce at least twice a week in all 37 schools in their district.
