Former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney is despicable. I couldn't bring myself to watch CNN's John King "interview" Cheney as, knowing how King is awed by the powerful, or in this case once-powerful, I expected the interview would be a farce. From Rob Kall's comments on it, the Cheney interview was even worse than I expected. John King is no David Frost!
But the real question is why Cheney is being interviewed at all, when he should be on trial in the Hague for war crimes and on trial in America for gross malfeasance. Unlike George W. Bush, Cheney knew exactly what he was urging the government to do -- to invade Iraq on false pretenses, to torture anyone suspected of being a terrorist and many who were not so suspected, to order his former sidekick Scooter Libby to out a CIA agent's identity to punish her husband, to arrange no-bid multi-billion-dollar contracts for his former Halliburton firm--the list is endless and disgusting.
Since leaving office, each and every Cheney statement has been snide and demeaning to our new President, Barack Obama, as well as clearly aimed at sabotaging his administration. Even Cheney's illnesses have not slowed down his efforts to further ruin America. He is totally despicable -- but, even so, not as despicable as those like CNN's John King who still pander to him. While we are awaiting Cheney's well-deserved prosecution, we should all do the one thing he cannot stand: totally ignore him!
