A new poll suggests that Democrats don't support Israeli military action in Gaza. That does suggest that Democrats ought to act differently in response to AIPAC
Here's a CNN press release with something for everyone:
More than four times as many Americans, 59%, sympathize with the Israelis compared with those who sympathize with the Palestinians, 13%, in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, according to a new CNN/ORC International poll released today.

In the survey, 57% also said that Israeli military action in the Gaza strip was justified, compared to 24% who said it was unjustified. Three out of four U.S. Republicans thought the Israeli action was justified, compared to 41% of Democrats and 59% of Independents. The poll has a sampling error of plus or minus 3%.

There's no CNN article to be found anywhere, but a number of other sites are citing it and it IS on CNN's facebook page.

This is gratifying to this progressive. I've long said that Israeli military policy is driven by far right wing Israeli politicians. Netanyahu did what he could to get Obama defeated. Republican Jews did what they could to get Obama defeated, and the support for Obama among Jews dropped from 74% to 69%-- still a very solid level of support.
The poll does not suggest that Democrats sympathize with Palestinians, but does suggest that they don't believe  Israeli actions are justified.
It's time for Democrats to read the polls and start pushing back seriously against AIPAC and  pushing back against giving Israeli right wing politicians a blank check. Democrats and Obama have the opportunity to influence the elections in Israel-- call it Karma or fair play.
