I first wrote this as a letter to Rob Kall, but thought it deserved a wider audience.

To Rob and all at OEN, this is how I see you helping right now:

You are giving a voice to the disenfranchised and a "vote" which actually influences the world at a time when it is questionable as to whether our real vote has any impact or is even counted at all. I therefore consider your organization more valuable than my right to vote. I feel a strong responsibility to support OEN in any way I can and to contribute to the process of opinion forming.

My "constituency" is the electrosensitives (ES) of the world, and we are still poorly organized because too many of us cannot tolerate modern communications devices at all. I can use the Net to reach out to the public, but not directly to the ES, whom I hope to reach indirectly via others who care. If others don't even know about the condition or about groups trying to help people who suffer from it, they cannot help. Any new medical condition is at first scoffed at as "malingering," "hypochondria" or "hysteria," and only slowly becomes established. In the case of ES, the denial is exacerbated by two things, corporate profits and addictiveness of the product. To this I think we can add military expedience (i.e., they know about effects and may be using them strategically).

Progressives tend to be heavy cell phone users, but they also have an open heart. I hope to stress that we do not aim to deprive anyone of an important tool, but find real solutions to real problems with it that are cropping up.

Below I will include a letter I received today. This is just the latest of about a hundred varied cases in my files, which also include a human rights activist, a company president, a dynamic salesman in Tokyo and former WHO Director General Gro Harlem Brundtland.

In addition, I invite anyone who has been injured by electromagnetic fields or knows someone who has to visit EMF Refugee http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/emfrefugee

Sincerely,
Patricia Ormsby

ALLERGIC TO 21ST CENTURY By Web Reporter A WOMAN allergic to 21st century life is being evicted from the Bishop's Stortford flat she claims is her "safe haven".

Lesley Moylette, whoÅ@suffers from electrosensitivity, has been given two weeks to leave her home in Windhill after she was taken to court by housing association South Anglia.

Her condition, which sufferers believe is due to electromagnetic fields emitted by electrical appliances, causes symptoms including insomnia and migraines.

However, since moving to her daughter Sam's two-bedroom flat 47-year-old Lesley's health has improved as she believes the property is relatively free from electro-waves. She keeps it free from mod cons such as telephones, computers and TVs.

Three months ago she was served with an eviction notice by East Herts District Council and South Anglia, which claimed she was ineligible to live there because it is rented by Sam.

The Observer was barred by the judge from yesterday's (Wednesday September 24) public hearing at Harlow county court after solicitors representing South Anglia objected.
