Enemy Combatants Rule America

Most Republican officials are complicit in crimes against humanity. Compared to them, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse appear as social workers. The Democrats won't prosecute because the majority of them are also guilty of the most heinous acts. Rod Blagojevich is my hero. He braved the Federal wire taps to express his monumental contempt for law enforcement, elected officials and the voters. He is one of the few who tells it like he sees it.The would-be reformers would do well to support the grassroots organizations now forming to throw out the rascals.

Since the politicians led us down the road to perdition, we shouldn't expect them to guide us back to respectability. There are millions of perpetrators at all levels and in all walks of life. By definition they are enemy combatants who have succeeded beyond the wildest dreams of terrorists.

They have turned formerly democratic institutions upside down. In 2002 we traded our liberty to the War on Terror.

Thomas Tamm had spent a lifetime in law enforcement. A lawyer, his family had a long tradition of government service. After he learned of the Bush/NSA warrantless wiretapping criminal scheme, he knew it was a gross violation of the rule of law. He also was aware the penalty for whistle blowing was often a long prison sentence and sometimes death.

Tamm lost his job while two reporters wrote books about his heroism. The Bush Administration has impoverished him with nuisance suits. Nobody involved in the domestic spying scandal has been prosecuted. Tamm is the subject of good reporting in the New York Times, Newsweek and the Huffington Post. Aside from one appearance on the Rachel Maddows Show, he has received no attention from the media. Several government Agencies did criminal work for the Administration. They diligently pursued anyone who showed any proclivity towards whistle blowing. The rare patriot feared for his life. All the while law enforcement ignored the lawbreakers who were violating the human rights of the citizens. This neglect prompted financial leaders to indulge in all manner of fraud. Wildly profitable toxic credit instruments seduced bankers into a life of crime. The result was a housing bubble based on risky subprime [$1 trillion] mortgages. After the bubble burst home prices declined, many home owners lost their biggest asset. This contributed greatly to the current Depression.

Only 25% of the housing bubble has burst. Other toxic mortgage instruments such as Alt-t [$1 trillion] and open ARMS [$1 trillion] Arrived after 2005. They feature a wickedly low initial interest rate of 3%. Between 2009 and 2012 the interest will reset automatically to a much higher rate. This will double the monthly payment and force millions of home owners into foreclosure.

The electorate is in no mood for Republican obstruction for the present. By 2012, however, the Democrats will be blamed for the Republican mess.

During the first stages of the Great Depression the ruling Republicans did nothing to change the situation. Similarly, by fudging the figures the current rascals hid the existence of the current Recession for a year. The $350 billions distributed to the financial sector were a huge fraud.
Spouting the rhetoric that failed during the election, they serve to obstruct the measures that might slow the downward spiral. These obstructionists should be removed from office. With control of the FBI, the new Administration will have access to investigative files that cover the perfidy of high officials.
The Democrats have been out of power too long. They are accustomed to the prone position awaiting the Republican whip. The electorate is too savvy to accept the inaction of toadies.
As the Party of war, pestilence, poverty and disease, the GOP won 45% of the votes. Since 2006, they have frustrated the spineless Democratic majorities in both Houses. If this obstruction continues to 2012, the public may well blame Obama for the Depression. Under similar circumstances in 1934, Prescott Bush came close to overthrowing the government.

I am saving my Sarah Palin 2012 badge. I have no wish to appear before a firing squad for opposing the GOP.

Since Civil Rights became law, the Republicans relied on bashing minorities to make political capital. This was a smokescreen to cover all manner of wrong doing. Despite spreading war, famine, pestilence and disease for forty years, the GOP held sway with 55% of white voters in 2008.Obama's crew organized and inspired millions of people to join the political process. Issues aside, Obama offered change and hope. This grassroots surge made progressive ideas a vital part of the mainstream. The general public has moved to the left of the so-called leadership. The people fear the specters of joblessness and homelessness more than they despise minorities. As the economy crashes, Obama's popularity rises.

As the Republicans obstruct the new appointments and programs, the people will come to realize they must be the agents of change. Will they keep this window of opportunity open long enough to scramble through it?

Two years into FDR's Administration Prescott Bush was confident his 500,000-man mercenary army could depose the President. After two years of fighting World War Two, the government could not sell a War Bond.

Americans have a short attention span. They much prefer the life of cows: fat, dumb and happily milked every day. Can they endure four years of living in tent cities? If they hated Mexican immigrant laborers, how will they feel about Chinese who buy our foreclosed homes with a few US Treasury Bills?
