We'll be the first to admit that parenting a brand new baby political party is not easy! After three months, the steering committee is really getting organized and we're very excited to announce that we're taking our first steps towards building a viable alternative to the corporate controlled two-party system.
Keeping in mind that we are all volunteering our time, the national steering committee has been meeting weekly to discuss our mission, our strategy and our structure, along with managing the access drive project to place on the ballot our presidential candidate Rocky Anderson--our top priority.
To date, we have acquired access in Mississippi and Utah--hooray! We hope to soon announce that we have achieved access in Florida, Michigan, New Mexico, Colorado and Louisiana. But there's still a lot of work to do with very limited resources.
Help us secure ballot access for Rocky!
Considering our resources and time frame, attaining ballot access presents some issues, so in this first stage, we're focusing on swing states with the hope we can build enough support for Rocky to win or at the least to wield some power.
In Iowa, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin, the total number of required signatures for ballot access is very low, so we're looking for volunteers to help in the efforts in these states. Contact Walter Mason to volunteer.
It's a different story in Ohio, Missouri, Nevada and Virginia. Our task becomes more difficult as these states require many thousands of signatures. In order to meet this goal, we hope to hire--from our own ranks--individuals to gather signatures. We need to raise $20,000 to achieve this goal.
