As America teeters on the brink of economic insecurity, Glenn Beck lashed out at Americans with mocking derision as he suggested for the 5,897,632 time that America is on the road to socialism.
Glenn Beck, the dough-faced pompous puppet of corporate America, and host of his own Fox News cable show now runs a daily banner beneath his beaming red face proclaiming, "Road to Socialism." The letters of the banner look like a Halloween sign on a haunted house.
Ah, socialism. Nothing scares the bejesus out of America like a little Red-baiting. Socialism! It's socialism! Socialism is coming! The best way to figure out exactly what America needs is doing exactly the opposite of what Glenn Beck suggests we do.
Beck had a guest on tonight who derided America as a nation of "moochers." That's right. This is Glenn Beck's opinion of YOU!. Beck sneered about government handouts and begged the question, "What would happen if everybody felt this way?" He suggested that this bailout would lead everyone to expect the government to do everything for them.
Never mind that this is how the government works for private subcontractors like KBR and Halliburton. Never mind that President George Bush ran up one of the biggest deficit governments in history, doubling the nation's debt from $5 trillion to $10 trillion in eight years. Never mind that we give Agribusiness and Big Oil billions of dollars of subsidies! For corporations!
Beck conveniently ignores these facts. He gets upset when the stimulus package goes to ordinary folks like you. And Beck's agenda is taking some dark and dirty avenues.
Beck used a black woman to emphasize his fear-mongering about a nation of welfare moms. Beck played the clip of the black woman telling the camera how excited she was about President Obama's election...hoping, just hoping he can ignite racism in addition to fears of socialism. Hoping. These are the hopes and dreams of people like Glenn Beck.
He also used some bogus historian to whip up fear about unions. In fact, he blamed a mini depression in the 30's on unions, specifically the UAW. Unions! It wasn't Wall Street. No. That would point the finger at elitists like Beck.
The misinformation campaign is at full volume on Fox News. Democrats must not forget to challenge the bogus facts and findings of corporate spokespeople like Glenn Beck. Keep calling him on it. Drag him unwillingly into the national spotlight.
By the way, did Limbaugh ever accept Campbell Brown's request for a debate? I didn't think so. Coward.
