Here is the text of the "Voice of the People" story that was published:
------
"Can someone explain these Occupy people to me? The only message I am getting from them is: 'Since I am a failure, I want everyone else to fail also. We are going to shut Wall Street down. Why? Because people who work hard and work long hours make more money than me.'
Please
put away the signs that say 'Where is my bailout? Need I remind you
of the 99 weeks of unemployment insurance, not to mention the food stamps? The
millionaires at the big companies said, 'Give me a bailout; I will keep
hundreds of thousands of people employed. I will make our stockholders money. I
will pay you back.' Which they did. Did you offer to pay your bailout back
when you go back to work?
Then there are the signs saying it's not fair that they don't have jobs. Back
in my day when we wanted a job we actually filled out a job application. Could
someone give me just a ballpark figure on how many job applications the
protesters have filled out in the past two months?
Is there any protester out there who could give an intelligent answer and tell
me what you need to see happen that will make you say you won, it's over and
you can now go home?"
