We know from prior news reports that President Obama receives approximately three (3) death threats per day, more than any other President in history! Death threats by themselves don't concern me, as the Secret Service has the ability to protect a President in present day times - unlike the period when John F. Kennedy was assassinated. My concern is the Mainstream News Media, and I just finished reading an article from ABC - who are part and parcel of the right-wing's grip on the strangle-hold of our corporate controlled news media:

August 14, 2009Experts who track hate groups across the U.S. are growing increasingly concerned over violent rhetoric targeted at President Obama, especially as the debate over health care intensifies and a pattern of threats emerges.
Experts say a sharp growth in so-called militia groups that helped spawn a wave of domestic terrorism in the 1990s -- and are now using YouTube, rock music and the Internet to recruit members and spread hate and fear - shouldn't be ignored.
"It's certainly a scary time," said former FBI agent Brad Garrett, now an ABC News consultant. Garrett said the Secret Service "cannot afford to pass on anyone," and he believes "they really do fear that something could happen to [Obama]."
Garrett said statements like one recently made by controversial radio host Rush Limbaugh comparing a logo for the White House plan to a Nazi symbol "legitimizes people who are on the edge to go do something or say something." LINK
Furthermore, if Progressives, Liberals and Independents had made comments that would likely incite violence against President Bush, which Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck make on a regular basis against Obama - any such individual would likely have been prosecuted for inciting violence. It's obvious that we are witnessing a double standard as it pertains to President Obama, and we have to ask ourselves why? Bush was hated to the extent that anywhere I went, I often had to tell friends and acquaintances not to utter their hopes that someone would assassinate what millions of Americans considered to be a Dictator, not a legitimate President. Two stolen elections and Bush's "I don"t give a Sh*t" attitude inflamed millions of people - yet he survived eight L-O-N-G years as our (sic) President and Commander in Chief. The media wasn't blaring that the President's safety was in danger - and now that we have a black President and right-wing America is up in arms that some of Bush's policies are being reversed, more and more people are stating that President Obama faces the risk of assassination.
Even though President Obama has received so many death threats, the animosity towards him pales when compared to George W. Bush - the most hated President in American history. The security that surrounded President Bush was legendary; I still remember when Bush visited a military hospital in Southern California and all of the appointments were canceled for that day, inconveniencing patients that needed medical care, but the Secret Service was so concerned for Bush's safety that it was decided to virtually shut down the facility in spite of the problems it caused to their out-patient services.
Under the illegal Bush Presidency, so-called "Town Meetings" were essentially staged events and the participants were screened beforehand to ensure that no one asked the wrong question and the President's security was never in danger. In spite of Bush's tough-guy image he attempted to put forth, Bush was always concerned for his personal safety to the point that wherever he spoke, massive security was deployed days before he actually visited the site of the appearance. The Secret Service didn't take any chances and the "Golden Child" was protected and never placed himself in a position where he could be a target - and he knew that if he did, the chance of assassination was always a deep area of concern.
Now, with the hate mongering that is evident everywhere, always inflamed by right-wing pundits, ABC comes out with a story that President Obama's life could be in danger. Is the MSM setting the stage for Obama's assassination? I believe that we need to watch the MSM carefully and see if other networks join in expressing their concern about Obama's safety. Our Mainstream News Media is nothing more than the propaganda arm of corporate America, and now that the Obama administration is actively pursuing the wealthy that have been evading paying their fair share of taxes for years, the animosity against President Obama is bound to increase - fostered in part by the wealthy who are angered that their tax havens are being exposed - and finally, they will be required to ante-up what they have never paid before - and are looking for ways to avoid what they consider to be entitlements for their status as America's elites. Any change in policy that affects America's elites is bound to face stiff opposition - and that opposition doesn't necessarily mean that it will be brought forward in the legislative process.
Normally, when any President is assassinated, the nation goes into a state of shock followed by a deep mourning period depending on his popularity. If President Obama is assassinated, once the shock wears off, instead of a deep mourning of a President, Black America is likely to rise-up and uncontrolled rioting is apt to break-out in cities across the nation. Even though President Obama hasn't lived up to his campaign promises, he is still a symbol to Black America that "The American Dream" is alive and well - and is a symbol of black pride throughout the United States.
I would advise those who harbor such thoughts that assassinating President Obama would bring consequences to this nation that would make the Watt's riots seem like a walk in the park. Some of our major cities which have large black populations would be devastated with rioting and property damage that would reach billions of dollars, and any economic recovery that we're all hoping for would vanish, replaced by death and destruction on a magnitude never before witnessed in the United States. There's no doubt in my mind that such a despicable act would result in a declaration of Martial Law, further diminishing the civil rights of a nation that each day, loses more of our liberties and freedom.
To President Obama, it may be time to begin ratcheting-up your personal security - maybe even to the level that President Bush had in place. It's becoming obvious that racial hatred and bigotry is still alive and well in this nation, and sadly, those within the GOP are playing the race card to inflame their base;with as much talk that's going around about assassinating President Obama, if it continues, I have no doubt that some nutcase will consider himself a patriot for ridding America of a black President - and at all costs, that's a scenario that must be stopped before it gains much more momentum. There are people in this nation whose racial hatred was ingrained in them since childhood, and undoubtedly consider Obama's Presidency to be the beginning of the end of their principles and beliefs.
The fuse is already lit; it's tantamount to our survival as a nation that President Obama receive the same amount of security and protection that previous Presidents have enjoyed. If Obama is assassinated, then it was orchestrated and planned at the highest levels - just as was the case of JFK, only this time, we won't be fooled, and know that a breach in security was allowed to facilitate such a dastardly deed - and believe me, if such a despicable act is allowed to happen with current security technology - and the Secret Service aware of the clear and present danger to his life, the fallout from such an act will irreparably scar this nation and it may be one that will forever doom us to a loss of our liberty and freedom - and make the Bush years a welcome respite to what would befall our nation for decades to come"
