According to Weinrauch, though most patients will fill their prescriptions, these drugs are rarely taken as directed, and he says the responsibility for these dosing mistakes is shared equally among doctors, patients, and pharmacists. He then offers advice on how patients and their healthcare providers can work to avoid dosing errors.

Talk therapy falling by the wayside

Fewer psychiatrists are providing psychotherapy in their sessions with patients, new research suggests. Investigators say this trend appears to be due to fewer psychiatrists being trained or specializing in psychotherapy and an increase in the number of drugs available to treat psychological problems
