Militancy and The End of 2015

With the last evening of 2015, the fortune of peace in Pakistan and the surrounding areas is objectively meant to overview. Some analysts appear optimistic in the subject of the restored peace in the country whereas, some others are still pessimistic in the security situation realm in Pakistan. However what is crystal is the grave concern in the policy making circles to curb the menace of militancy.

Last night in connection with a senior media group in Islamabad, the respondent of a state department has avowed their determination to cope with militancy with iron hand. There will be no rest until it along with its troubles is eliminated. They also unveiled that the security agencies are thoroughly involved in tracing out the secret financial channels the militant groups are utilizing for their heinous activities. In this regard, it is reported that one billion in different 126 accounts is said to be frozen. Similarly, some 250 million rupees collected through HAWALLAH ( a method of transferring money) and HUNDI (a financial instrument in trade and credit transactions) were detected.

The immense security workout is underway in more than 100 seminaries in the most districts of Southern Punjab. This is, according to security officials, a great success to have ever been achieved. The improvements in this agenda in KPK also reveal that the peace will sooner be restored in broader way. Earlier during 2009, the writ of government was no more in tact. Explosives were business of the routine. The law and order was worsened at such a level that the provincial government had to shift provincial capital from Peshawar to Abottabad. The political party in government was being threatened to accept what Bait Ullah Mehsood the leader of TTP, was dictating.

The long stretch of 1373 km out of 2700 km has been cleared. According to media reports, only Shawal and DattaKheil in North Waziristan and Rajgal in KP are still to be made safe and cleared. Some 1534 intelligence operations were conducted to meet the ends of national action plan. These operations were according to analysts met with successes of arresting 6470 suspects. These break-troughs smash the militants activities which is apparent through the reduction of militant incidents from 160 in the first quarter of 2015 to the 73 only in the mid of the year between July and September.

The cited above data helps an analyst to assess the following dimensions; first government has set a clear vision to eradicate the security unrest in the country. Second, the intelligence based operations are considered as alternative strategy along with military operations. Third, the termination of financial shipment to the banned groups is accurately pursued. Fourth, the expansion of National Action Plan to the other parts of country including Punjab is a rationalized part of plan in order to slow down the negative impacts of the military operations.

To make the final opinion, the broad based strategies are needed to be formulated with national consensus when, a great challenge, a nation confronts. Under such scenario, all tiers of state machinery have to work objectively and impartially. There should be no political interference in the conduit of the intelligence operation. That is how the great challenges like militancy can be countered effectively.
