Asserting that Maryland's 4th Congressional District needs a "New Leader with New Vision," military veteran Warren Christopher, a 2016 Democratic candidate, is running for the House of Representative's seat currently held by Representative Donna Edwards. Edwards is campaigning to replace retiring Senator Barbara A. Mikulski.
"I am in this race because I see the opportunity to develop our economy, grow our middle class, attract and sustain high quality services, and ensure our residents gain access to opportunity and the American Dream," says Christopher, a 24-year retired Lt. Colonel of the US Army.
If elected to Congress, Christopher says as a servant leader he will use his influence to ensure that the 4th-district businesses are getting a seat at the table, that residents find it easier to get jobs, and that opportunity for growth and access is provided for all. According to Christopher, while many in the state are doing fine, the 4th Congressional District of Maryland, which sits in the shadow of the United States Capitol, has been hit harder by the shockwaves of the Great Recession.
The Warren Christopher For Congress website (WC4C) details the candidate's comprehensive plan to address issues related to housing, veterans, seniors, education, environment and health, jobs, leading with women, returning citizens, national security and immigration. Christopher, who since retiring from the Army has continued in public service, is a proud father of two daughters. He has served as a Senior Strategic Planner/Policy Advisor for the Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Agency; an assistant to Senator Hillary Clinton; and as Chief of Staff at the Department of the Interior's Business Center. In addition, he volunteered in the community as a board member on Maryland's Business Roundtable for Education, a Big Brother for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the National Capitol Region, President of his community's Home Owner's Association, and Membership Chair, National Association of Black Veterans--Prince George's County.
The 4th Congressional District of Maryland is based in Prince George's County, Maryland, but also includes a portion of Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
