Polar Bears and Climate Change: The Science Speaks for Itself. Many thousands have starved to death as the Polar Ice Warms then Melts

Scientists, environmentalists and New Mexico's Senators are reacting with alarm to a questionnaire sent by the Trump transition team to the U.S. Department of Energy,

New Mexico Sens. Martin Heinrich and Tom Udall, both Democrats, called the questionnaire from the incoming Republican administration extremely concerning.

"While we don't yet know what the President-elect intends to do with this information, we do know about his troubling climate denial statements and the record of some of his key appointees in attacking climate science," Heinrich said in a prepared statement.

"I will not tolerate any efforts by the incoming administration to intimidate scientists and researchers in the government or at our national laboratories who are tackling some of our nation's greatest challenges, including climate change."

Udall said in a prepared statement that the questionnaire had a "badgering tone," and he urged the Trump transition team to clarify it. "I hope it isn't to single out civil servants who are contributing important work to our understanding of climate change. Different administrations have different policies and goals, but objective, scientific work should be a bipartisan priority," he added.

From Stephen Fox, the author of this article:

The new administration will very clearly be a haven for opponents of scientific discussion of climate change and research in that realm.

How could something so obviously occurring like climate change become the new total corporate bugaboo to be swept under the rug?

Scientists should be able to do their research without fear of repression or of being silenced. Unless they are outright intimidated, not even the government scientists at Los Alamos and Sandia are going to roll over and play dead.

Let's hope for even stronger scientists in the university context, but we have seen for a very long time that even University scientists are in essence "bought off" with the grants for research that is always supposed to turn up certain pre-agreed upon "scientific conclusions."

(Almost seems like some bizarre parallel to the artistic world in 1930's Germany when certain styles and particular artists were deemed to be "decadent," mainly because either they were Jewish or because they were critical of Fascist and Fascism, as in actually are a few working on kinder branches of pure science research.

This administration can't be laboring under the idea that if you don't talk about something or don't fund research into climate change, the whole discussion will just go away. Tell that to the polar bears jumping from one dwindling ice floe to another....
