I am writing to you on the behalf of the hundreds of thousands of patients who are released from the hospital ER's with minimum insurance such as Medicaid, if any, with conditions dealing with heart failure, cancer, thyroid disease and other conditions which can render the patient bed ridden for a time, and without income, social security does not pay for rent, utilities, food and others things one needs to stay alive, income levels of SSI is lower than the amounts of Social Security again offering up little assistance while the patients attempts to receive. Current policies within Church organizations are related to attendance and if you are not you receive little assistance, and township organizations offer up nothing to help those who are within their service areas because of self created guidelines which only offer up assistance to home owners and some renters discriminating against those who are transit and not reflective of health care related issues.
If you are involved within continued care facility and receive social security benefits within some you will loss them within the facility and may loss the right to your home and other property in order to afford that facility assisted living program which is not disclosed to the public. Therefore persons with failed health are treated worse than the people within a third world nation.
You have no insurance of what to do to keep your home, rental and or any other assistance other than the remedy of becoming homeless. Health-care policies condemn patients to coming out of the hospital with no guild-line in these areas.
Here is a example or two from people I have spoked to:
1) One man was an executive for a bank, he had a brain tumor, because of the cost of health care surgery and procedures, he used up his money, loss his home, cars his wife left him, he is on the streets.
2) Another man had a business, was in a coma, wife ran the business then was told he would not recover she moved on, he came out of the coma, business gone, wife gone, business gone, no home nothing, lived for a while in a friends home, moved no income nothing had heart failure, struggling with his plight to good health going to have heart surgery again possibility of no housing again on a float no existing assistance from any programs because he does not quality.
3) Woman with two children, younger mom, has MS, same issue worked as a temporary had no health care did not quality for medical insurance because of income level, had worked and worked in fact two jobs to maintain a standard of living for herself and the children little child support ex husband unemployed, no car, living pay check to pay check. Gets ill from the stress on top of the MS, ends up in the ER with a stroke, comes has father care for the children for a while, comes out has bills stack to the roof because of time in the hospital, goes to area churches for assistance and refused because she is not in there district and or not a member. Township refuses help because she is not living within a had income prior to seeking assistance to over their guideline therefore she can not receive general assistance, only food. In fact they had provided her food from the pantry nothing else.
And the list goes on and on while no one listens and or understands until they are in the nightmare for themselves.
State and Federal law makers have this information and refuse to address this issue as within the rising crisis in this country. At a time when we can bail out banks, the automotive industry and everyone else there is no help for the small business owners, sole business owner, temporary workers, 1099 employees and everyone else who has been placed outside the system within affordable health care.
I am a victim with congestive heart thyroid condition, high blood pressure, my blood pressure is now for weeks 220/125 with medication, I am a talk show host who has bought many issue into the media not normally covered but this is one of the worse because its in your face and no one will deal with the real issue of what health reform is about dealing with current patients who have issues with after care and the ability to care for themselves after a major issue. And it seems that its a joke, when people are rendered without salary, and or real health-care, the Medicaid insurance plan refusing you medication at times once your out of the hospital opening up the door for continuous health issues to continue because you have no medication to take once out of the hospital. There is nothing you can do to protect your housing if you are a long term patient with continuous health issues, again if you don't work on the day out and make plans for money to keep paying for bills there is nothing, I am being evicted no township will help because they lack programs to assist, pads and other organizations are not going to risk their programs on persons with health conditions because they don't have the facility and or the workers who understand these issues, nor is the congress, senate and or law makers within understanding of this very issues which impacts on millions of Americans. But again the policies within the US are real and its thrusting those at medical risk into the streets while non-profits are touting they are helping when they are not aware of the issues which are plaguing people throughout the united States.
Yes the programs are not geared for the millions of American's who had worked all their live and provided their income to support this governments taxes base we are people ruled out and without a means to live. We are being condemn to death and many within the Country have no knowledge of this,
We are your Mothers, Fathers, Sisters, Brothers, your Grand Parents; all us worked but then were placed in to affordable status within health care. And we will become the new homeless adding into all of the other homeless on the streets with no rights what so every.
We are removed from having quality of life and treating within the United States and treated with less respect than the people who are starving within third world nations. With no way of paying rent, Utilities and can not get employment, because we are in continuous health crisis. But if we had for a while time to get well then we can return to work not under the conditions we are forced into today. We need help and Volunteers for a New Program and lobby group Just think having these issues impact on your recovery from a major Illness: No money relating to failed health, and emergency based illnesses whereby the victim has no continuous revenue streams protect their housing from going into foreclosure and eviction, no remedy to paying off utilities and other services while hospitalized. The results are homelessness. Little assistance and then also within alleged social agencies the lack of help because of alleged government rules on who is eligible for assistance which rules out patients with chronic health disorders because they are deemed as burdens on the system, but while this nation can afford to care for people outside the united states on the very tax money they took from these patients prior to their impeded health crisis.
