Listening to U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown on a local station today, I found it hard to believe that he is calling for further isolation of the N. Korean penisula as a solution to it's recent attention getting maneuvers.
This is the very isolation that created this situation. North Korea has needs as an individual nation and creating loner countries is not in the interest of the international communities. Talks cementing N. Korea into the international community are the only solution. They must be engaged as part of the world community and given the oppotunity to contribute to the same.
The BBC has a timeline (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/country_profiles/1132268.stm) of events for the Korean penisula that spells out the rollercoaster relation of N.Korea with the rest of the planet. The nuclear threat histrionics is old school diplomacy with a basis in fact, a reminder of the lack of forethought to historical pretext made by our elected officials. As americans and citizens of the planet, we ask our officials to get off the confrontational, isolationist bandwagon and commit to a lasting peace and removal of threats to all citizens of the world. No one wants war, let alone a nuclear one. It is not a means to any end. Stop isolating our fellow planetary citizens and ask not what they can do for us but "What can we do for you today?".
Leadership is being a servant to all, Peace is accomplished through serving others.
