The GOP could not stop the momentum of the best President in fifty years through legislative obstruction, so they created an unnatural disaster.
As Naomi Klein's due diligence pointed out in "Shock Doctrine", there is money to be made from catastrophe, conflict and crisis. Katrina is one example, where cutting seven million from levee maintenance forced spending eighty billion in rebuilding, not to mention the loss of thousands of lives.
Disaster Capitalism is a proven strategy, so why not use it on a populist politician that owning the news media and the Congress hasn't been enough to stop?
Consistent obstruction has been the hallmark of the GOP. It is their game plan. When all else fails, stop jobs creation, stop healthcare, lay off thousands of teachers, gut pension plans, attempt to privatize Social Security. Take over the mass media, hire clowns like Beck, scoff at "empathy", fund an artificial movement called the "Tea Party", allow multi-national corporations to fund American political messaging.
Shrink government and drown it in the bathtub.
We common Americans are not privy to Cheney's Energy Task Force proceedings, which created the "Halliburton Exception", removing EPA oversight from deep-ocean drilling. We are presumably not tapping into his conversations, though just in self-defense, we should.
After all, this is the guy who made North American Air Defense "stand down" AFTER the first plane struck the World Trade Center.
The Halliburton-BP Oil disaster is perfect for Cheney's modus operandi, and perfect as a political ploy to stop the needs of the public and the environment from being met. Aimed at the heart of Obama's ability to govern, it is strikingly similar to projectiles aimed at JFK.
Method, motive, opportunity, the three give-away signs of homicide.
Only this time it's ecocide and an attempt at political assassination.
