POPE BENEDICT GOES OUT OF HIS WAY TO OFFEND JUST ABOUT EVERYONE THIS PAST WEEK
By Kevin Stoda, Germany
Since the infamous George W. Bush, left the political scene almost two weeks ago, the German born Pope Benedict XVI appears to go out of his way to offend almost anyone. Is the head of the Roman Catholic church trying to pick up where Bush-Cheney political left the stage?, i.e. ever less closer to improving societal and global divisions of the last two or more decades.
During these last few days, the now-controversial Pope Benedict XVI has appointed the priest Gerhard Wagner to a major Bishopric posting in Austria,—and this without even talking to most of the church leaders in the region.
In short, this particular Wagner has been told by the Austrian bishopric time-and-again that he is never again to share his controversial opinions on non-church matters in public—but that has not stopped him from doing so over the past decade.

In other words, had the Pope bothered to contact the Austrian church hierarchy before appointing Wagner a new Auxiliary Bishop, the pope would likely have found few supporting the suggestion of appointment of Wagner to so high a post.
This is because in “2005, the 54-year-old was quoted in a parish newsletter as saying he was convinced that the death and destruction caused by Katrina that year was ‘divine retribution’ for New Orleans' permissive sexual attitudes and tolerance of homosexuality.”
